How To Save Money on Getting Your Teeth Whitened

Hey guys,

Having brown, yellow or similarly stained teeth can shatter confidence and self-esteem but worst of all it makes people lose their smile because they’re embarrassed to display their gnashers.

Brushing regularly and avoiding coffee, red wine and cigarettes can help make your mouth look more healthy but for better and quicker results, many people choose to reclaim their smile by getting their teeth whitened.

Traditionally, if you wanted to get your teeth whitened, it meant a trip to the dentist with a very full wallet or purse.

Getting your teeth whitened used to cost many hundreds of pounds but nowadays you can get a kit, which does exactly the same job as your dentist (chances are it is the same stuff your dentist uses) and will only set you back around £85.

DIY teeth whitening is a fairly simple process:

  1. After purchase, you are sent the materials and instructions required to make a mold of your teeth.
  2. You send the mold back to the company (FREEPOST).
  3. Technicians make a custom-made tray from the mold that fits your mouth exactly.
  4. You are sent the trays, whitening fluid and instructions on how to whiten your teeth.

One company that provides this service is The Smile Place and they describe themselves as ‘cutting out the mddle man’ (the dentist).

They provide one of the most reliable and professional services in the sector, so much so that they’ve received the following mention in Trinny and Susannah’s Survival Guide as well as various other accolades:

“Fantastic Site! If you are conscious of the colour of your teeth when you smile this is the site for you!”

A couple of other points about this system:

  • Lasts up to 2 years
  • Fully licensed and endorsed

Although this will save you money and time, don’t forget you still need to go to your dentist for regular check-ups (at least once every 6 months).

Teeth Whitening in Brighton

Hey guys,

From the messages I have received recently, it seems as though Brighton is one of the top spots in the UK to get teeth whitening treatments.

So, because teeth whitening is so popular down on the south coast, I thought it would be useful to provide a list of places that you can get your teeth whitened in Brighton & Hove.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer a less expensive method of teeth whitening or prefer not to have a stranger looking into your mouth, teeth whitening kits allow you to brighten your pearly whites from home.

Natural Teeth Whitening Methods

Hey guys,

Just a quick post today as I have tons of work to do :s

I want to share with you this cool video I found on Youtube that discusses some natural teeth-whitening methods. It’s presented by Michelle McPhail, who is a dental technician in the Tampa Bay area of the US.

She explains a few natural methods of getting white teeth that be performed easily and inexpensively from the comfort of your home. I’ve provided a transcript below for anyone that is unable to view the video.

So, you want to know how to keep your teeth white naturally.

Well, my name’s Michelle and I’m a dental assistant with Solutions and I’m going to explain that for you.

There’s several different methods and ways on how to keep your teeth white naturally. One is that you can eat a lot of raw vegetables that will keep all the bacteria and debris from sticking to your teeth, which then produces like a yellow film on your teeth.

Or you can actually mix salt and lemon together and create like a paste and then brush your teeth with that. Thats a natural form on how to keep your teeth white. It doesn’t taste that great so you’ll want to rinse your mouth out immediately with water and then brush your teeth with your regular toothpaste.

There is over-the-counter toothpaste that you can get for keeping your teeth white.

You also might want to rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide. That is a great form for how to keep your teeth white naturally. You can brush your teeth with in and create like a bubble-effect on your teeth. Actually, you can let it sit there for a few minutes and then rinse your mouth out with water.

You can gargle with Hydrogen Peroxide. That will help with keeping your teeth white naturally.

Those are the main things with how to keep your teeth white naturally.

The only thing I would like to add to this is that although Hydrogen Peroxide is safe to gargle, it can be poisonous if swallowed, so be very careful if you use this method!

How To Get White Teeth at Home

Hey guys,

Just a quick post today to let you know about a neat teeth whitening method that can be performed at home and that was recommended to me by my friend Diane.

She used to regularly get her teeth whitened by her dentist (around twice a year during her check-ups) and a would cost her a few hundred quid each time.

She was quite well-off and didn’t think anything of spending this sort of money on teeth whitening, however she was recently made redundant (she works in the finance sector, where lay-offs seem to be pretty rife at the moment) and had to take a lower paid job. Subsequently, that meant a change in her lifestyle as she tightened the purse strings, which meant luxuries such as teeth-whitening would have to go.

Now, Diane is the sort of person that doesn’t give up easily so she scoured the web for some sort of alternative solution for keeping her pearly whites white and she came across these guys.

They offer the same procedure used by dental practices but because their clients do much of the work themselves, there’s no hefty dentist labour fees making it a lot more affordable.

Basically, you buy a tooth whitening kit and follow the instructions. The process is simple:

  1. Using the supplied putty, you make an impression of your teeth, which you send back to their labs.
  2. They send you back customised tooth trays built from the impressions.
  3. You add whitening gel to the trays and pop them in your mouth.

Here’s the link to their website, again.

They’re a UK-based company and call themselves The Smile Place.

Although their teeth-whitening kit is cheaper than paying your dentist to do exactly the same thing and you have the freedom of getting your teeth whitened in the luxury of your own home, there are one or two downsides to this method.

Firstly, it takes a few days before you can actually get started whitening your teeth because after ordering, they have to send you the materials to make the impression, then you have to send the impression back and then they have to send you your bespoke trays and whitening gel.

And secondly, you have to wear the trays for around two hours at a time and for at least five days (or until your teeth are the shade you want them to be), which may be inconvenient to some people.

For Diane, this wasn’t a problem as she saved a shedload of money and she tells me her teeth are now whiter than they’ve ever been.

Teeth Whitening on the NHS

Hey guys,

Although much of the info on this website is multi-national, it is aimed primarily at a UK (British) audience, which is why I’ve decided to kick off this blog with a post about teeth whitening on the NHS – the UK’s National Health Service.

A common question amongst people looking into the possibility of getting their teeth whitened is if there are any free treatments available from their NHS dentist.

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Teeth whitening, like all cosmetic surgery that is viewed to be aesthetic and non-essential, is not available as part of the National Health Service. The following is extracted from the NHS website:

NHS dental treatment does not include cosmetic treatments that are not clinically necessary, such as teeth whitening or veneers. Cosmetic treatments like this are used to improve the appearance of your teeth and make them look more attractive.

It is a common myth that white teeth are healthier teeth, however our teeth are not naturally pure white, which is why whitening is considered a cosmetic treatment. It is important to add that if you want your teeth to be healthy (and who doesn’t?), you should brush regularly with a fluoride toothpaste, floss regularly and avoid consuming food and drink that will stain your teeth such as tea, coffee and red wine. Tobacco is also major culprit for staining teeth, so quitting smoking (or at least cutting down) will also help.

Many NHS dentists will offer teeth whitening services for an additional charge – the cost varies based on geographical area and individual dental surgeries. In addition, the tooth-whitening treatments can vary between surgeries and this is often based on the dental practitioners preferred whitening product. Two of the most common treatments are Zoom and Enlighten.

Also available are tooth whitening kits that you can use to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your home such as those provided by The Smile Place. These solutions use the same chemicals that your dentist offers but are a lot more inexpensive as you are applying the treatment yourself instead of paying your dentist to do it.

Finally, there are a number of alternative tooth-whitening techniques that can be described as holistic. These methods recommend ways to live a healthy lifestyle that will help you achieve a brighter, whiter smile naturally.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be discussing how to get white teeth using all of these methods, so stay tuned…

Welcome to my White Teeth Blog

Good Day!

Welcome to my blog devoted entirely to teeth-whitening.

Many people are not 100% happy with their smile because of the colour of their teeth. This can lead to issues such as low self-esteem, but perhaps the worst result is that the world is being deprived  of smiles.

I want to use this website to discuss various ways to get whiter teeth including the advantages and disadvantages of each technique.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be reviewing lots of different ways to get white teeth from natural holistic methods, to home whitening kits to the options your dentist can offer you.

I hope you find something of use here and if you have any comments or queries about any of the methods for how to get white teeth, please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to get back to you.

Danny
